Summary

This study looked at how lung damage from COPD in smokers might cause changes in the brain and problems with thinking. Researchers used brain scans and thinking tests in 170 adults aged 30-85. The goal was to find early signs of brain trouble to help design future treatments that could slow or prevent memory and thinking loss.
