Modified stem cells sent to fight brain cancer

NCT ID NCT02192359

Summary

This early-stage study is testing the safety of a new two-part treatment for aggressive brain tumors that have returned after standard therapy. Doctors place genetically modified stem cells directly into the brain during surgery, hoping these cells will make the tumor more sensitive to a follow-up chemotherapy drug. The main goal is to find the safest dose of this stem cell and drug combination for 18 patients with recurrent high-grade gliomas.
