Brain bleed breakthrough? new procedure aims to stop recurrence

NCT ID NCT04750200

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a minimally invasive artery-blocking procedure (called EMMA) to standard brain surgery better prevents chronic brain bleeds from coming back. It involves 192 adults in Canada who need surgery for a specific type of brain bleed. Patients are randomly assigned to receive either standard surgery alone or standard surgery plus the new artery-blocking procedure, and then followed for 90 days to see which group has fewer recurrences.
