Scientists probe 'Leaky Brain' link to long COVID and chronic fatigue
NCT ID NCT07256795
Summary
This study aims to understand why people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and similar long COVID symptoms experience 'brain fog' and mood problems. Researchers will compare 200 patients who developed ME/CFS before the pandemic to those who developed it after a COVID-19 infection. They will use brain scans and blood tests to see if a 'leaky' blood-brain barrier and inflammation are key causes of these cognitive symptoms.
