New 'Dome Protection' procedure aims to stabilize brain aneurysm patients

NCT ID NCT07250958

Summary

This study is testing a two-step treatment for severe brain bleeds caused by an aneurysm. First, doctors use a minimally invasive procedure to place tiny coils as a temporary patch on the most fragile part of the aneurysm. This 'dome protection' aims to prevent a second, often deadly, bleed and allow the patient to stabilize. Later, patients will have a full repair of the aneurysm. The study will follow 30 patients to see if this approach is safe and effective.
