Summary

This study tested a new medical device called the Optilume BPH catheter in 80 men with moderate-to-severe urinary symptoms from an enlarged prostate. The device is a small balloon coated with a drug (paclitaxel) that is inflated inside the prostate to open the urinary passage. Researchers wanted to see if this one-time procedure could safely improve symptoms like frequent urination and weak stream for at least a year.
