Does prostate surgery affect your brain? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT07468084
First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at 132 men aged 55-80 who had surgery for an enlarged prostate. Researchers compared two common procedures—HoLEP and TURP—to see if one had a bigger impact on memory and thinking three months later. Participants took simple cognitive tests before and after surgery. The goal was to learn whether the type of surgery itself influences brain function, not to treat any cognitive condition.
