Botox tested as new hope for bowel accidents

NCT ID NCT02414425

Summary

This study tested whether Botox injections into the rectum could help adults with fecal incontinence who haven't been helped by standard treatments. The goal was to see if the injections could reduce the number of bowel accidents and feelings of urgency, thereby improving quality of life. The treatment was expected to be temporary, potentially requiring repeat injections once or twice a year.
