New hope for stubborn blood disorder: old drug tested in new way

NCT ID NCT05599880

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called bortezomib can help adults with a hard-to-treat form of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), where the immune system attacks platelets. It aims to see if the drug can safely raise and maintain platelet counts in people whose ITP has come back or hasn't responded to at least two other standard treatments. The trial involves about 29 participants and will monitor them for a year.
