Old cancer drug may boost platelets in stubborn immune disorder

NCT ID NCT05599880

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether bortezomib, a drug used for certain cancers, can safely raise platelet counts in adults with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) that has come back or not responded to standard treatments. About 29 participants will receive the drug, and researchers will check if platelet levels increase enough to reduce bleeding risk. The goal is to control the disease, not cure it.
