Bone injection could beat IV for stopping spine infections

NCT ID NCT06748144

Summary

This study is testing if putting an antibiotic directly into the bone during lower back fusion surgery works better than the usual method of giving it through a vein. Researchers will measure antibiotic levels in the bone, muscle, and blood of 30 patients to see which method delivers more medicine to the surgical site. The goal is to find the best way to prevent dangerous infections after spine operations.
