Blood test may speed up osteoporosis monitoring

NCT ID NCT07242612

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether blood tests called Bone Turnover Markers (BTMs) can quickly show if osteoporosis medication is working in postmenopausal women. Currently, doctors use DEXA scans to check bone density, but these change slowly. BTMs might show results in just 3 to 6 months. Forty women will receive either bone-building or bone-loss-slowing drugs, and researchers will compare BTM results with standard scans to see if the blood test is a reliable early indicator.
