New transplant technique aims to reduce dangerous side effects for patients without perfect donor matches
NCT ID NCT03626285
Summary
This study is testing a refined bone marrow transplant method for people with cancers or other disorders who need a transplant but lack a perfectly matched donor. Doctors use a special machine to filter and select only the most useful stem cells from a partially matched related donor or an unrelated donor. The goal is to reduce the risk of the donor cells attacking the patient's body, a serious complication called graft-versus-host disease, while still treating the underlying disease.
