Experimental transplant offers hope for rare immune disease cure

NCT ID NCT03910452

Summary

This early-phase study is testing whether a bone marrow transplant from a partially matched family member can cure chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), a rare immune disorder that causes severe infections. Researchers are using a special combination of medications and radiation before the transplant, plus specific drugs afterward, to help the body accept the donor cells. The trial is for patients ages 4-65 with serious CGD complications who don't have a perfectly matched donor.
