Scientists collect bone marrow to build future cell treatments

NCT ID NCT01071577

Summary

This study aimed to collect bone marrow from healthy volunteers and patients to produce specialized cells called bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs). These cells were intended to be used in future treatments for conditions like graft-versus-host disease, heart disease, and vascular problems. The study was terminated after enrolling 65 participants and focused on collecting and processing the cells rather than directly treating patients.
