Power drill vs hand tool: which makes bone marrow tests less painful?

NCT ID NCT03078452

Summary

This study compared two tools used to take bone marrow samples from patients with blood cancers like multiple myeloma. Researchers tested whether a new battery-powered drill system was better than the traditional manual needle in terms of the quality of the sample collected, how much pain patients felt, and how long the procedure took. One hundred patients at Emory University were randomly assigned to have their biopsy done with either the power drill or the manual needle.
