Screw it in: new prosthetic leg bypasses painful sockets, attaches directly to bone

NCT ID NCT06737770

Summary

This study is evaluating a new type of prosthetic leg that attaches directly to the thigh bone, bypassing the traditional, often painful socket. Researchers will assess how this 'osteointegrated' implant affects mobility, pain, and quality of life in 15 adults with above-knee amputations. The goal is to see if this direct connection offers better comfort, control, and function than conventional socket-based prosthetics.
