First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether combining electrical muscle stimulation with vitamin D supplements could improve bone quality in veterans with chronic spinal cord injury. Six participants received the treatment over 9 months, and researchers measured changes in bone structure using MRI and bone density scans. The goal was to find a way to prevent the bone loss and fractures that often follow spinal cord injury.
