Dexamethasone in bone grafts: a better way to save jawbone after tooth removal?

NCT ID NCT06556095

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked at whether mixing a bone graft with dexamethasone (an anti-inflammatory drug) helps preserve jawbone better than mixing it with saline after a tooth is pulled. 44 adults who needed a tooth removed and planned to get a dental implant took part. Researchers measured new bone formation and changes in ridge size after 16 weeks to see if the dexamethasone made a difference.
