Teen bone health under the microscope: new study reveals hidden risks
NCT ID NCT07164248
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study reviewed medical records of 74 adolescent girls aged 12-21 who had bone density scans. Researchers wanted to understand why some teen girls have low bone density (osteopenia or osteoporosis) and how gynecologic issues like missed periods relate to bone health. By comparing girls referred from gynecology clinics to those from other departments, the study aims to help doctors identify at-risk teens earlier.
