Scientists scan lungs to see how obesity changes breathing in different positions

NCT ID NCT07341113

Summary

This study aims to understand how lying in different positions affects where air and blood go in the lungs of obese and non-obese people. Researchers will use a painless, non-invasive scanning belt on 40 healthy volunteers to take measurements while they sit, lie on their back, lie on their stomach, and lie on their sides. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help doctors tailor breathing support for obese patients in intensive care.
