Researchers map how a blood disorder shapes young bodies
NCT ID NCT07204015
Summary
This study aims to measure and understand the body composition—specifically fat, muscle, and bone mass—in children with a severe inherited blood disorder called beta thalassemia major. Researchers will use a simple, non-invasive tool to scan 115 children aged 5-18 who receive regular blood transfusions. The goal is to learn how the disease and its treatment affect a child's physical development and to find connections with factors like nutrition and iron levels.
