Which therapy works better for kids with CP? new study to find out
NCT ID NCT07496151
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will compare two common physical therapy approaches—Bobath (neurodevelopmental treatment) and functional physiotherapy—to see which one better improves upper arm strength and trunk control in children with cerebral palsy. Forty children aged 4 to 12 will receive one of the two therapies twice a week for 12 weeks. Researchers will use wearable sensors to measure trunk movement and a dynamometer to measure handgrip and push strength.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Neurodevelopmental Treatment (Bobath) and Functional Physiotherapy
What this could lead to
If this trial succeeds, it could show which therapy approach better improves arm strength and trunk control in children with cerebral palsy, helping guide rehabilitation choices.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 children, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two existing therapies, so no breakthrough cure is expected.
