First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This early-phase trial is testing an experimental drug called BMS-986504 alongside standard cancer treatments in 60 people with advanced cancers that have lost a gene called MTAP. The cancers include mesothelioma, stomach/esophageal cancer, and bladder cancer. The main goal is to find a safe dose and see if the combination shrinks tumors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

BMS-986504 (an experimental drug taken by mouth) combined with standard chemotherapy and immunotherapy drugs

What this could lead to

If it works, this could lead to a new treatment option for people with certain hard-to-treat cancers that have a specific genetic change (MTAP deletion).

What could go wrong

This is an early (Phase 1) trial with only 60 participants, so the main goal is safety, not effectiveness. The drug may not work or could have serious side effects.
