Screen time and skin spots: new study investigates blue Light's effect on melasma

NCT ID NCT03877445

First seen Apr 02, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether blue light from computer and TV screens can make melasma (a common skin condition causing dark patches on the face) worse. Twelve women with melasma had one side of their face exposed to blue light for 30 minutes a day over 5 days, while the other side was not exposed. Researchers measured changes in pigmentation to see if screen-level blue light has any effect.
