New blood test could replace invasive lung procedure for TB diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07230457

Summary

This study aims to validate a new blood test that detects tuberculosis (TB) DNA as a safer, faster alternative to bronchoscopy for diagnosing lung TB. It will involve 600 adults in Hong Kong who need a bronchoscopy but cannot provide a good sputum sample. The goal is to see if this simple blood test works as well as the invasive procedure, potentially allowing people to avoid it and start treatment sooner.
