Simple blood test could unlock stroke treatment for 'Wake-Up' patients

NCT ID NCT07453277

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a blood test can help doctors figure out when a stroke began. This is important because about 1 in 5 people wake up with stroke symptoms and don't know the exact start time, which can prevent them from getting clot-busting drugs. Researchers will take blood from 80 adults with stroke and measure certain proteins that may act like a 'molecular clock' to estimate the time since the stroke started.
