Simple blood test could replace many brain scans for head trauma

NCT ID NCT07036146

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple blood test, which measures a protein called S100B, can help doctors quickly and safely rule out serious brain injury in people who come to the emergency room with a head bump. The goal is to see if this test can accurately identify low-risk patients, allowing them to go home sooner and avoid unnecessary CT scans. Researchers will enroll up to 1,000 people of all ages who arrive at the ER within 6 hours of a head injury.
