Blood test could cut unnecessary brain scans for head injuries
NCT ID NCT06932588
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple blood test can help emergency room doctors decide when a patient with a mild head injury really needs a CT scan. Researchers will enroll 350 adults with mild head injuries and randomly give some doctors the blood test results while others make decisions without them. The goal is to see if using the blood test can safely reduce the number of CT scans ordered, potentially lowering costs and hospital time.
