New blood pressure check aims to protect failing kidneys
NCT ID NCT05163158
Summary
This pilot study tested whether using a new type of blood pressure measurement, taken from the body's central arteries, is a better way to manage high blood pressure in people with advanced kidney disease. The goal was to see if this method is practical for doctors and patients to use, and if it helps reduce artery stiffness, which can protect the heart and kidneys from further damage. The study involved 116 adults with advanced kidney disease, comparing the new measurement method to the standard arm-cuff method over 12 months.
