Scientists probe mysterious link between gut veins and blood pressure
NCT ID NCT02726711
Summary
This study aims to understand how blood flow in abdominal veins contributes to blood pressure problems in people with Multiple System Atrophy, a rare nervous system disorder. Researchers will study about 16 participants with both low blood pressure when standing and high blood pressure when lying down. They will temporarily block certain nerve signals with medication to see how this affects blood vessel behavior.
