First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a simple blood test can tell if an older adult (65+) with a mild head injury needs a CT scan. Researchers measured two proteins in the blood that can signal brain damage. The goal was to reduce unnecessary scans and radiation exposure. Over 2,200 participants were enrolled to see how accurate the blood test is compared to standard CT imaging.
