Trial tests new way to stop bleeding in tiny hearts

NCT ID NCT04376762

Summary

This study compared two different treatments to help control serious bleeding in babies under 2 years old after heart surgery. Researchers tested a purified protein powder (fibrinogen concentrate) against a standard blood product (cryoprecipitate) to see which one was better at helping blood clot. The goal was to reduce the need for additional blood transfusions and improve recovery for these high-risk infants.
