New catheter design tested for gentler bladder impact
NCT ID NCT05224544
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of catheter (a tube used to drain urine) with many tiny holes, comparing it to a standard catheter with two larger holes. 43 healthy women were randomly assigned to use one of the two catheters. Researchers looked at bladder lining changes before and after use to see if the new design caused less irritation. The goal was to gather information, not to treat a disease.
