New scan could help bladder cancer patients keep their bladder

NCT ID NCT04321707

Summary

This study tested a special imaging scan (15O-H2O PET/MR) to see if it could accurately tell which patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer had their tumor completely eliminated by chemotherapy before surgery. The goal was to identify patients who might safely avoid having their bladder surgically removed. Thirteen patients scheduled for chemotherapy followed by bladder removal surgery were scanned before and after their chemo treatment.
