NCT ID NCT07204301

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 44 times

Summary

This study tests whether small changes—like timing of numbing gel, playing calming music, or using visual distractions—can reduce pain and anxiety during flexible cystoscopy and bladder instillation in bladder cancer patients. About 378 participants will be randomly assigned to receive one or more comfort interventions or standard care, then report their pain and anxiety levels. The goal is to improve the patient experience during these common procedures.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could lead to a simple, low-cost way to make bladder cancer procedures more comfortable and less stressful for patients.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial testing comfort measures, not a treatment for the cancer itself. The interventions may not significantly reduce pain or anxiety for everyone.
