First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study reviews medical records of 50 adults who received a simultaneous liver-kidney transplant between 2015 and 2020. Researchers want to find out how many of them developed BK virus in their blood, which can harm the new kidney. The goal is to better understand this risk in dual-organ transplant patients.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors better understand and manage BK virus risks in combined liver-kidney transplant patients.

What could go wrong

This is a small, single-center review of past records, not a treatment trial. Results may not apply to all transplant centers.
