Scientists hunt for blood clues in bipolar brain storms

NCT ID NCT07434414

First seen Feb 26, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looked at two blood proteins, OLFM4 and LRFN5, in 72 people — some with bipolar disorder during a manic episode and some healthy. Researchers wanted to see if these proteins are linked to inflammation and brain signaling problems in bipolar disorder. The study did not test any treatment, only measured levels and compared groups.
