First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at 7 different blood markers to see if they can better tell apart severe bacterial infections from viral infections in children aged 7 days to 36 months with fever. Researchers enrolled 983 children and compared the new marker combination to standard tests like CRP and procalcitonin. The goal is to help doctors diagnose serious bacterial infections more accurately and avoid unnecessary treatments.
