Scientists hunt for hidden clues to prevent dialysis complication
NCT ID NCT07208513
Summary
This study aims to find early warning signs (biomarkers) for a condition called peritoneal fibrosis, which is scarring in the abdomen that can happen in people on long-term peritoneal dialysis. Researchers will collect and analyze fluid and cells from the dialysis bags of 55 participants to look for patterns linked to scarring. This is an observational study, meaning no new treatment is being tested; the goal is to gather knowledge that could help with earlier detection in the future.
