Seeing your breath to breathe easier: new study tests biofeedback for sudden shortness of breath
NCT ID NCT05770518
Summary
This study tested two non-drug treatments for a breathing disorder where the vocal cords close when they should open, causing sudden shortness of breath. 51 adults with this condition were randomly assigned to receive either standard speech therapy or a newer video biofeedback treatment, where they could watch their breathing on a screen while doing exercises. Researchers measured changes in breathing difficulty one month after treatment to see if one approach worked better than the other.
