Stroke rehab gets a High-Tech boost: biofeedback training cuts fall risk
NCT ID NCT07448948
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a special balance-training device to standard rehab helps people who had a stroke at least six months ago. The device uses a platform that gives real-time visual feedback as the person shifts their weight. Thirty-six participants were split into two groups: one got standard rehab alone, the other got standard rehab plus 25 minutes of biofeedback training five days a week for eight weeks. Researchers measured balance, fall risk, daily independence, and emotional well-being before and after the program.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
biofeedback-based interactive posturographic balance training device
What this could lead to
If effective, this approach could become a standard addition to stroke rehabilitation to improve balance and reduce falls.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to all stroke survivors. The device is not a cure and only targets symptom improvement.
