Generic drug showdown: will the cheaper version work just as well?

NCT ID NCT06768619

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study checked whether a generic version of eltrombopag (a drug that helps increase blood platelets) works the same as the brand-name drug in healthy adults after eating. Thirty-six healthy Chinese volunteers took both versions at different times, and researchers measured how the drug moved through their bodies. The goal was to confirm the generic is a safe and effective alternative for people with low platelet counts.
