Bioengineered 'External Liver' tested as bridge to recovery

NCT ID NCT06285253

Summary

This early-stage study tested the safety of a temporary, external bioengineered liver device called miroliverELAP. It was used for up to 48 hours in 10 critically ill adults with sudden, severe liver failure. The goal was to see if the device could safely support patients' failing livers, giving their own livers time to heal or allowing time to arrange a transplant.
