Summary

This study tested whether placing a temporary external stent in the bile duct during liver surgery could reduce the chance of bile leaks afterward. Researchers enrolled 304 adults who had at least two liver segments removed. The goal was to see if the stent could lower bile leak rates from about 15% to 5%.
