This study tested a simple, low-cost plastic ruler called the bili-ruler to see if it can accurately screen newborns for jaundice, a common condition that can cause brain damage if untreated. Over 4,000 newborns were checked with the bili-ruler and compared to standard screening methods. The goal is to provide an affordable tool for use in diverse settings worldwide.
