Bile duct cancer surgery showdown: total removal may lower recurrence risk

NCT ID NCT07609641

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests two surgical techniques for bile duct cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes. One method removes the bile duct completely to take out all affected lymph nodes, while the other leaves the bile duct in place but may leave some lymph tissue behind. The goal is to see which approach leads to better overall survival and lower cancer recurrence. About 60 adults with confirmed bile duct cancer will take part.
