Common hospital chemical tested as potential lifesaver during cardiac arrest

NCT ID NCT05564130

Summary

This large Danish trial is testing whether giving sodium bicarbonate (baking soda solution) during in-hospital cardiac arrest helps restart the heart and improves survival. The study involves 778 adult patients who have already received standard adrenaline treatment. Researchers will compare bicarbonate to a placebo to see if it leads to more patients surviving with good brain function 30 days later.
