First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a special device (bioelectrical impedance analysis) to guide fluid management can lower the risk of death within 28 days for patients in the intensive care unit after major surgery. About 80 adults will be randomly assigned to either the new fluid guidance method or standard care. The goal is to see if better fluid balance improves outcomes like time on a ventilator and hospital stay length.
