New drug tested to calm severe bipolar mania

Summary
This study tested whether an investigational drug called BHV-7000 is safe and effective for quickly reducing symptoms of a manic episode in people hospitalized with Bipolar I Disorder. Over 270 adult participants received either the drug or a placebo (inactive substance) for 21 days while staying in the hospital. Researchers measured changes in manic symptoms, depression, and safety to see if BHV-7000 could help control this acute phase of the illness.
